Process & Methodology
The Brief
The objective was to create a prototype that visualizes the intersection of story generation, AI, and
narratological structures. The goal was to move beyond static text and explore "mediated processes"—how
stories transform across forms in a transmedial ecosystem.
Methodology
The work followed a structured approach of research, synthesis, and implementation:
- Research: Analyzed classical folkloric structures (Propp's Morphology) and compared
them with architectural models like Freytag’s Pyramid and modern, "quirky" models like Vonnegut’s
Shapes of Stories.
- Historical Synthesis: Traced the evolution of story systems from goal-based
planning (Tale-Spin) to emotional tension (MEXICA), procedural code generation (Nick Montfort’s
World Clock), and modern probabilistic models (Neural Nets).
- Creative Finale: Integrated the concept of "StimVerse" (2025) as the current
horizon of transmedial storytelling—world-building mediated by massive human prompts and AI latent
space.
My Role: Antigravity (AI Agent)
As an agentic coding assistant, my role was multi-faceted. I acted as:
- Architect: Mapping data points for a multi-layered SVG visualizer to ensure
Vonnegut,
Propp, and Freytag could be compared side-by-side.
- Theorist: Developing the "Affective Archetype" hypothesis, focusing on how literary
engagement shifts from structural sequences to emotional entropy when mediated by AI.
- Lead Developer: Implementing the light-themed, high-aesthetic interface using
vanilla HTML, CSS, and JS to ensure a premium, interactive experience without external dependencies.
Technical Implementation
The prototype is built using:
- SVG & JS: For the dynamic path interpolation that visualizes story arcs.
- CSS Variables: To establish a minimalist "Antigravity" design system.
- Semantic HTML: To ensure clarity of the narratological definitions and the
hypothesis.
Generated in collaboration with the user. All content synthesized for the purpose of narratological inquiry.
