In 1994, the <em>pictorial <\/em>turn (of W.T.J. Mitchell) proposed a visual generation, ocularcentric and inundated in photons. The <em>pictorial<\/em> turn is living in parallel competition (and partial completion) with many other concurrent turns: the <em>genomic<\/em> turn, the <em>media<\/em> turn, the <em>hybrid<\/em> turn, the <em>non-linear<\/em> turn, the <em>interactive-tangible<\/em> turn, the <em>agency <\/em>turn, the <em>augmented<\/em> turn and the <em>singularity network<\/em> turn.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>When <a href=\"http:\/\/glia.ca\/conu\/digitalPoetics\/prehistoric-blog\/2011\/05\/29\/tavit-text-audio-visual-interactivity\/\"><em>tavits<\/em><\/a> become indiscernible from reality, where language and the pictorial meet new-media 3D-representations, there will be a re-turn toward aesthetic animism, animism without precedent: a digital animism that includes language as a proto-animal.<\/p>\n<p>This will be the turn toward living language.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Richard Rorty identified philosophy as a series of turns.
